Frequently asked questions about study destinations

Which country is cheapest for Indian students in 2026?

Germany is the cheapest option โ€” public universities charge โ‚ฌ0โ€“โ‚ฌ1,500/year tuition, with total monthly living costs around โ‚ฌ900โ€“โ‚ฌ1,200. Next cheapest are Ireland (โ‚ฌ10,000โ€“โ‚ฌ25,000/year tuition) and New Zealand (NZD 22,000โ€“40,000/year). All seven countries we cover remain cheaper than the US or UK once scholarships and post-study work rights are factored in.

Which country gives the fastest post-study work visa?

New Zealand and the UK both offer 3-year post-study work visas for most degree levels. Australia offers 2โ€“4 years (subclass 485). Canada offers up to 3 years via the PGWP. Ireland gives 2 years (Stamp 1G). Germany gives 18 months plus 20 hours/week during study.

Do I need IELTS for all seven countries?

Most universities in Canada, Australia, UK, Ireland and New Zealand require IELTS Academic (or PTE / TOEFL). Many German public universities waive English-test requirements for English-taught programs but you must prove English via a Medium-of-Instruction certificate. A-WAY Consultancy helps you pick the right test for each country and prepares a study plan.

Can I get PR (permanent residency) after studying in any of these countries?

Yes. Canada has the clearest PR pathway (PGWP โ†’ Express Entry / PNP). Australia offers skilled migration points favourable to graduates. New Zealand has a Skilled Migrant pathway. Germany gives 18 months to find a skilled job, then a residence permit. Ireland and the UK offer graduate routes that can lead to work visas, then long-term settlement.
